Volume ≠ Loudness

So your mixes sound weak and anemic. What gives?  Well, this is a complicated subject, but understanding it starts with grasping the concept that volume does not equal “loudness”.  Volume is a measure of something - usually in this case how much air is actually moving, whereas loudness is one’s perception.
