The guitar is an incredibly expressive instrument. There is something about the way the string resonance decays, the wide range/tessitura, the ability to bend pitches and the flexibility of modern signal processing that is unique to that instrument only.  It is not without its challenges, though. The position of the fretting hand is very unnatural, takes a lot of getting used to and strength building.  It takes a lot of  determination early on to start making it happen. If you are not physically holding and executing the motions properly, it doesn’t sound properly. You can play up to 6 pitches simultaneously but often times the choices are limited by the physical layout of the instrument. The tuning is always an issue due to the the laws of physics and constantly requires attention. It is a temperamental, finicky, yet flexible and rewarding instrument to play.
