The challenge here is based on building strength and dexterity in the fingers (especially in the non-dominant hand), as well as training rhythmic independence between them. A skill similar to a drumming, but on a smaller scale. Additionally, most pedagogical approaches to learning the instrument are very reading heavy and often build on classical repertoire, which can be boring and/or tedious for many people.
